Our desire is to walk as a family together like Jesus walked; increasing in love for Him and others, desiring to learn truth to help us navigate life and family and to launch into the community and beyond, ready to be difference makers.

Family Church of Lawrence (FCL) was planted January 1, 2006, after Ron and Vicki Channell were asked by a launching church to seek God’s call for them to minister in Lawrence. After a period of prayer and fasting, both were confirmed that God desired this ministry and they said yes.

The first nine years saw many location changes. It was a faith building time, seeing God’s hand move in dramatic ways. This period was one of stretching, but also increase in belief, hope, love, joy and peace, the very things most people are desiring in their own lives. In 2015 the Lord opened the door for the purchase of a church building on 5 acres of land in west Lawrence.

FCL is an evangelical, Spirit-directed church. This means that we are devoted to studying, believing and obeying the Bible, which is the Word of God, while desiring to be led, taught, and utilize the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Many people love God or desire to know Him but have become disillusioned with the “church.” Some even feel they might not fit in. Therefore, a church that offers a fresh real encounter with Jesus Christ will experience increased love for Him. You can engage personally through practical, easy to understand teaching of His Word. It takes the activities of religion and moves to fresh and purposeful engagement. This is FCL.

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve

under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry

of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until

we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Ron Channell, Senior Pastor

Ron Channell has a passion to share and teach how, through Jesus Christ, you can step into your God-given identity and reach your full potential to be ALL that God created you to be. His daily quest is to see people profoundly transformed by the love of God and the pure power of the Gospel.

About Pastor Ron

Ron has joyously spent over 15 years in church leadership positions, ranging from his beginnings as a youth leader, then touring with a rock gospel band, to his present position as Senior Pastor of Family Church of Lawrence (FCL).

Together, he and his wife, Vicki, co-founded H₂O Ministries in 2004, which provides Bible studies imparting dynamic day-to-day applications. They both have an extreme passion for learning and teaching God’s Word. Ron is also a published author.

Vicki Channell, Director of Education

Vicki’s passion is for this community to experience the transforming truth and love of God in tangible ways. Her desire is that each person would learn to apply God’s Word so that His promises are realized in their fullness. Her quest for learning/teaching has brought her to FCL as the Director of Education beginning in 2006.

Vicki graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN with a BS in Education, followed by a Master of Arts – Marketing from Webster University, St. Louis MO. She currently is completing (…click here to continue…)
